A Class Act |
 |
Dateline Omaha,
Nebraska -- A woman who is hearing-impaired filed a
federal lawsuit naming a local McDonald's as
defendant. This woman claims that workers at one
specific McDonalds have repeatedly refused to accept
her food order at the drive-thru window. |
|
The plaintiff, Karen
Tumeh of Lincoln, claims that the employees insisted
that she either order using the electronic speaker
along the drive-thru lane or that she come inside to
order. |
|
Her lawsuit admits
that Tumeh wears a hearing aid, but even with the
aid, cannot hear while using the drive-thru to order
at fast-food restaurants. |
|
Further Tumeh's
lawsuit claims that at least three times while at
the Lincoln McDonalds since September, 2007,
employees refused to let her place her order using
the drive-thru window. The suit claims that in
denying her service, McDonald's violated the federal
Americans With Disabilities Act. |
|
The lawsuit seeks to
force McDonald's to make accommodations for
hearing-impaired people to order food in restaurant
drive-through lanes. Tumeh also seeks unspecified
damages and attorney's fees. |
|
Tumeh's attorney,
Shirley Ann Mora James, admits that her client is
physically capable of walking inside to order, but
that's not the point. |

Observing
Our World:
This is not fair. Life is not fair. We are each and
all victims in too many ways. It is time to put a stop
to our pain. Obviously there is only one resolution. |
|
We must
select an attorney -- preferably one with five
hyphens in her name -- to file a class
action lawsuit on our behalf naming God as defendant. |
|
For
those of you who don't believe in God, well, you
lose again. |
