Pause Now
Consider Yourself
This site reflects upon the art of the pause. It is a mandatory visit for all who are in constant multi-task mode, rushing nowhere, anticipating chaos, and accomplishing less than their abilities might allow.
You are always anonymous at our survey sites. Surveys change and questions are added from time to time. Check back and tell your friends about these survey sites.
1.  When I drive, I often:

Please select any actions that describe your behavior.

Let multi-tasking rule my life.
Drive through red lights because I have no time to pause for all that cross traffic to drive by just because their light turned green.
Veer sideways to squeeze around the back end of a car in front of me that has had the audacity to slow before making its turn left or right. And I don't care how close I come to hitting that car or oncoming traffic.
Fail to stop at an intersection even when I have a stop sign. Instead, I roll on out nearly into oncoming left or right traffic to perhaps avoid stopping at all.
Drive through stop signs because I see no reason to pause just to check for other cars that should wait for me anyway.
Drive close to the rear of the car in front of me because I need to go faster... even if that other car is driving over the speed limit.

2.  When I meet with my coworkers to discuss work, I often:

Please select any actions that describe your behavior.

Let multi-tasking rule my life.
Interrupt and over-speak just about anyone to be heard even if I am not sure I know what I am talking about.
Interrupt and over-speak just about anyone to be heard even when I have nothing of value to say.
Bring bottled water and/or coffee, cell phone (leaving the ringer on so people learn how important I am), iPod, and dress down to be especially cool.
Pause before interjecting my opinions & ideas to be reasonably sure of their relevance & value.

3.  When shopping, I often:

Please select all that sound familiar.

Let multi-tasking rule my life.
Race through the aisles quickly grabbing stuff, get checked out, rush back to my SUV, start it, & back out of the parking spot while cell calling someone who has no more to say than I do.
Let other shoppers pass by while I casually shop for enjoyable treats for my family & me.
Stand firm against those many nasty shoppers who want to beat me to the next aisle.

4.  When having dinner with my family, I often:

Please select all that are familiar.

Let multi-tasking rule my life.
Interrupt and over-speak just about anyone to be heard even if I am not sure I know what I am talking about.
Join in our relaxed conversations about each other & our day's activities.
Enjoy cooking, sharing good food, & cleaning up.
Anticipate the meal ending & having my private time.

5.  When planning my days, I often:

Please select all that you agree with.

Let multi-tasking rule my life.
Plan specific time slots for my private time.
Plan time slots for my away-from-work family time together.

6.  Please select the category from the right that best describes you and your behavior.

A rational & reasonable person who knows where it's going & how to get there successfully.
A somewhat reasonable, yet irrational person afraid of appearing inadequate to its peers, uncertain of where it's going & how to get there successfully.
A person of average intellect who thinks little about where it's going, has been encapsulated by circumstances into a lifestyle it respects little & cares less about.
An innocent bystander in life going nowhere, angry that things have not worked out in its favor, even though many aspects of its life are reasonably good. It is unsure why, but is certain it must dislike & take revenge upon others at all times.
An angry person, totally out of control, irrational, & unreasonable who has no self-respect, no comprehension of life's positive possibilites & its good fortune. It operates strictly to inflict damage upon its employer, neighbors, & coworkers.

Thank you . . . . .
